Jeremy Archer, owner of the five-room Sugar Hill Harlem Inn in Harlem, NYC, is in the final stages of installing solar panels on the 100 year old building’s roof. The 18 panels are expected to power approximately one-half of the building’s electricity, making the property the first Bed and Breakfast in NYC to go solar.
Although the total cost for the panels is around $17,000, a one-third grant from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) should help offste the cost, as well as the expected boost in publicity.
