Hospitality brands will have the opportunity to learn best practices and strategies within the eco-travel industry and how to incorporate them into their own green marketing strategies during Good and Green—The Green Marketing Conference, November 29 to 30, 2007, at the Chicago Cultural Center. The estimated $7 trillion travel industry has been among the first to respond to consumers’ demands for environmentally responsible options.
Led by Kathy Dragon, founder of ActiveWoman.com and recognized travel expert, the panel will include travel industry leaders Hank Stewart, vice-president of Green Team USA; Dave Pflieger, general counsel for Virgin America Airlines; Bob McElwee, publisher of Modern Traveler Magazine; and Kristin Glass, marketing manager for Leading Hotels of the World.
The discussions are geared toward learning how to effectively and successfully balance the desires and “requirements” of the consumer with the needs of the environment. Says Bob McElwee, publisher and co-founder of Modern Traveler Magazine, “Green travelers are making enlightened choices to ensure their trip doesn’t negatively affect the environment or the local people in the places they visit. But, they are also looking to have an outrageous adventure or chic travel experience.”
