The Reef Atlantis, a new 497-key tower on Paradise Island, will offer guests “home-like accommodations and amenities” while initiating a program for the environmental conservation and protection of the ocean.
The new tower is partnered with Kerzner Marine Foundation to build and promote “Blue Tourism, offering guests the opportunity to “both interact with and support the ocean through a combination of ocean-based experiences and conservation programs.” The project will fund conservation efforts as well as support site monitoring.
Kerzner, which is responsible for reportedly discovering two new species of coral, plans to jumpstart the project with a donation of $1 million. Other partners on The Blue Project initiative include American Express, JetBlue Airways, Stuart Cove’s Dive Bahamas, Melissa & Doug toys, Red Flower and Shoshanna.
