This week, Green Daily ran a post that recommends proper car maintenance for fuel efficiency and decrease in emissions (not a bad idea), as well as purchasing carbon offsets. But, citing current offsetting controversies, a recent article by m-travel suggests that it just isn’t enough.
While travel companies are busy coming up with consumer/carbon programs (Enterprise, anyone?), social responsibility activists in the travel arena are saying that while carbon offsetting programs do assist in drawing awareness to the problem, they are “not the solution.” They insist that while it is a good initiative for the interim, corporations and consumers alike need to make real changes in their lifestyles in order to make an impact.
