Great River Journey has just been named one of the Significant 30 Aboriginal Tourism Products & Cultural Experiences in Canada by Aboriginal Tourism Canada and the Canadian Tourism Commission. Great River Journey is a brand new eight-day, world-class geo-tour that follows the path of long ago gold rush pioneers through First Nations’ lands from Whitehorse to the Klondike claims of Dawson City.

“Great River Journey is the most unique and exciting tourism initiative in Northern Canada in a generation,” says George Asquith, President of Great River Journey. “It represents the shared vision and years of work of four Yukon First Nations and their private sector partners with support from all levels of government and the Yukon community.”

Great River Journey takes guests through the First Nations’ traditional lands offering an authentic glimpse into their lifestyle. Partners in this venture are the Kwanlin Dün First Nation, the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in First Nation and the Selkirk First Nation. They are involved as owners, represented on the board of directors and their people will be among those hosting and guiding guests.

Chief Ruth Massie, of Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, says, “We look forward to welcoming Great River Journey guests into our traditional lands and showcasing our history and culture. We know we will have a special relationship with our guests.”

Great River Journey provides the premier, high-end, low-impact river tour experience in North America with the adventure of a unique, world-class riverboat safari into the wilderness, history and culture of the Yukon. For more information, please visit them on the web at www.greatriverjourney.com.
