(PRWEB) Launched in 2008, Roots and Culture Tours NYC (http://www.rctoursnyc.com) offer visitors to New York City two original tours of the city’s multi-ethnic and historical neighborhoods called the ‘Historic Heroes Walking Tour’ and the ‘Soul of New York Bus Tour’. Each tour is unique and like New York City, one of a kind, showing visitors to the Big Apple the many dimensions to New York’s culture which include free visits to cultural and historical venues, shopping and food tasting.

The company was created by Monthina Williams, who is currently Director of Programs at the Caribbean Cultural Center, African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI), New York. Ms. Williams has been creating cultural programs for arts institutions for over 7 years and conceived the idea of the company in 2007 with the aim to create stronger links between cultural institutions, unique businesses and community organizations. With the assistance of the CAMBA Business Entrepreneurial Assistance Program, she was able to launch this business this year.

The first tour to be introduced is the ‘Historic Heroes Walking Tour’. During this tour visitors will stroll amongst the beautiful architecture of downtown Manhattan. They will learn about the establishment of New York City by the Dutch and British and the immense contribution of historic heroes of the African American community and their relationship to historic greats such as George Washington and Alexander Hamilton. The next tour to be launched will be the ‘Soul of New York Bus Tour’. Like ‘Soul Music’, or ‘Soul Food’ this exciting bus tour will take visitors on a journey throughout Midtown Manhattan, Harlem and Brooklyn. They will visit cultural arts sites such as the Apollo Theater and Malcolm Shabazz Harlem Market and learn about the soul music, arts and culture of the city.

Ms. Williams says, “I believe that the strength of the city is its diverse communities. They are the root of the Big Apple and their contribution to the city make New York flourish and grow. I want everyone who takes our tour to have a informative, interactive and fun experience!”
