Located just 18 miles northwest of Austin, Texas, the newly-renovated 168-room Lakeway Conference Resort and Spa from Dolce Hotels and Resorts just announced a new eco-meeting package for business conferences, coordinated by a newly-founded “Green Team Committee” that works with event planners to conserve energy and water, recycle and minimize waste, and consume local and organic products.
“Going green is not just a trend at Lakeway Resort,” said Brett Huske, general manager of the property. “The enthusiastic associates participating in our green program are passionate about their involvement. These are individuals who have already been taking green strides in their personal lives and now feel they can make a larger impact by affecting how we do business on a daily basis.”
Breathtaking views, stunning décor, unparalleled guest services, nearby wineries, marine recreation, culture, tennis, nightlife and championship golf also play a key role in attracting conference-goers to the resort.
The new green-meeting package includes free Wi-Fi and electric receptacles, climate-controlled conference and guest rooms for energy efficiency, elimination of plastic water bottles as well as dinnerware, business materials recycling, conversion to Energy Star appliances and compact fluorescent lighting and utilization of eco-friendly cleaning products. Also, the resorts’ conference menus feature healthy, organic and locally-sourced ingredients. The resort also donates $3 per day, per meeting attendee, to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, an organization benefitting the sustainable use and conservation of native wildlife.
