Wilderness Ventures, the oldest and most experienced adventure travel program for young people, offers domestic service trips that are designed to enable young people to obtain 40 to 80 hours of community service while simultaneously offering opportunities for fun, outdoor adventures, and personal growth.

Volunteer travel has become a growing trend in the industry, and Wilderness Ventures’ programs offer young people the opportunity to lend a hand domestically while enjoying their peers and the great outdoors.

The small groups of 10-15 students with 2 leaders develop into close-knit intimate teams, while engaging in rewarding and challenging service projects in some of North America’s most breathtaking areas. The service groups spend their summer camping in one or two base camp settings and engage each day in rewarding service projects. Between service projects these groups are rewarded with outdoor adventure activities such as whitewater rafting, sea kayaking or hiking trips in these incredible areas. These trips are the learning experience of a lifetime which enables participants to make positive contributions to the environment and to local communities. My daughter did the Costa Rica Service trip with Wilderness Ventures last summer and came back a different person: responsible, enlightened, and environmentally savvy. Her new found respect for foreign cultures and our fragile, beautiful earth makes me proud to know she will continue to make a difference in the lives of others. She still speaks so fondly of her leaders and friends from all over that made her experience so incredible. I hope Wilderness Ventures and other programs like this continue to guide our children into the responsible young adults that will someday be in charge of the future of our world.

This is such an informative article. I enjoyed reading it and I would suggest that someone, with experience should really make some rubber wristbands. It's very popular nowadays to wear bracelets or necklaces, shirts etc., with favorite places and spots, even as presents from places one has been to.
