The chance to have a documentary broadcast on the National Geographic Adventure Channel is a dream for most budding travel-filmmakers. Now, WorldNomads.com is looking to give someone that chance with a new travel documentary scholarship in Southeast Asia.
Travel documentary newcomers are being granted the opportunity of a lifetime to kick-start their career with an assignment to Vietnam. Lead by producer Trent O’Donnell, the scholarship winner will trek the Southeast Asian country, courtesy of Buffalo Tours, along with a team of 20 volunteer doctors, providing vital medical services to the host communities in Mai Chau Valley.
The doctors’ mission is to set up temporary health clinics to provide vital medical services to remote hill tribes. The winner’s mission is to tell the story.
How to enter
Applicants for the scholarship must submit a 3-minute video documentary in English based around the theme “Journey into an Unknown Culture,” due by July 5, 2009. Applicants are also asked to submit 200 words or less on why they should be awarded the World Nomads 2009 Travel Documentary Scholarship.
The judging panel will be looking for:
