San Francisco-based travel software company thumbble has just released “Super twiddler” – a new iPhone app that lets intrepid travelers toss out (and recycle) their old paper travel guides and experience cities “beneath the surface – finding out what to do based on the traveler’s mood, timeframe and location.

As the latest addition to its "twiddler" series of mobile travel applications, San Francisco travel software company thumbble has just released "Super twiddler " – a unique iPhone travel app providing unique, emotion and location based travel guides to the tech-savvy explorer.

Super twiddler
suggests to travelers the "what, where and when" of their destinations, based on the traveler’s mood, timeframe and location, allowing travelers to "dig beneath the surface" of their destination and really experience the true flavor of the place.

The app is a follow-up to the company’s prior tool, twiddlerSF – a mobile travel guide specifically for San Francisco. In contrast, the new Super twiddler iPhone app covers 27 major cities across the U.S. and includes enhances social features that let travelers share their travel experiences with friends and contacts.

How does this crazy thing work? Does it read my mind?

Not so much, but not so far-fetched either. Although, with the rate of development for iPhone travel apps soaring through the roof, I would not be surprised for this feature to be released in version 2.

For the time being, hower, a traveler wielding this gem of a travel companion need only to choose from some basic criteria of how they are feeling, what they are looking for, how much free time they have, etc., and Super twiddler intelligently suggests a recommended and current activity, place or event that fits within the criteria and timeframe.

For instance, a traveler can select "thirsty" (just one of 15 moods to choose from), select their timeframe and locale, and POOF! Super twiddler does the rest. The app also integrates Google Maps for directions and Yelp for user reviews.

Once results are displayed, they can then be emailed to friends and contacts.

"The twiddler series was built to address the question, ‘What can I do right here, right now?’," said Christen Duong, CEO and founder of thumbble. "It’s like a concierge, but for repeat travelers and locals. And because it is personalized based on a user’s mood and how much time they have, it’s perfect for people on the move – all in one fun little game-like app."

Super twiddler iseems to be a very promising, paperless travel guide for anyone interested in exploring the unknown or just interestedd in the local "pulse" of their destination.

The Super twiddler application is now available at the iPhone app store for $4.99.
