Green business travel events and meetings gets an eco-incentive with tree planting initiatives

Meetings and events technology company, SignUp4, is raising the bar on corporate green initiatives with its promise to plant three trees for each new and renewing customer.
Corporate meetings software company, SignUp4, has just announced a new incentive for businesses looking to green their corporate travel profile – the company promises to plant three trees for every new customer or contract renewal.
The company’s new initiative kicked off on April 22 in celebration of Earth Day 2009, giving the company a solid month and a half to plant trees throughout world on behalf of current customers.
Working in conjunction with a number of various environmental organizations, the software company, known best for its SMM suite of event and travel management software, allows customers to choose the location of their newly-planted trees as well as stay up-to-date on its growing progress via SignUp4′s “Tree Tracker” application.
Customers can choose to plant a tree in the United States or in other countries in need of trees for sustainability, shade, and protection.
Business travel industry – driving toward change
With meeting planners across the globe adopting methods to reduce the carbon footrpints, SignUp4′s tree-planting initiative is a sure and positive example of the direction in which the meeting industry’s players are moving; hitting real benchmarks to demonstrate corporate social responsibility.
“We’re dedicated to going greener and making the earth a more sustainable place to live”, says Doug Wetzel, VP of New Product Engineering. “SignUp4 is actively looking for ways to offset our carbon footprint. We’re located in Atlanta, a city that’s extremely proud of its trees. It seemed like a natural fit.”
“This is the first of many going green efforts SignUp4 is pursuing,” says Nick Romano, SignUp4 President. “Like many companies, we recycle and encourage everyone to print conservatively. SignUp4 donates used furniture and computers to local charities so they can be reused as opposed to thrown in a land fill. Beyond that, we know there’s more we can do for our environment, and our tree planting initiative is another step in the right direction.”
