Kimpton Hotels put Green Hospitality First
San Francisco-based boutique hotel chain Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group Inc. is making strides in the green hospitality department. The company’s environmental program, Earthcare, enables every hotel to adopt standard environmentally friendly products and practices, such as eco-friendly cleaning supplies and recycling.
Eight Boston Area Hotels Add Energy Star Designation
Three additional hotels in the Boston area have earned an Energy Star label by documenting superior energy performance and efficiency. With the new designations, there are now eight hotels in the Hub metropolitan area that have made sufficient energy improvements to achieve an Energy Star label.
Jurys Boston Hotel’s Offsetting Just One of Many Initiatives
On September 1, the Jurys Boston Hotel will do what few other properties have done—offset 100 percent of its electricity consumption. The hotel will pay a premium of 6 percent for its electric power to Constellation NewEnergy, which in turn will purchase Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) from renewable generation sources in the United States.
